Terry has been active in flood and coastal defence for a number of years, playing a fundamental role in developing national policies and strategies for flood and coastal defence, including Shoreline Management Planning, Implementation Strategies and High Level Targets. He has extensive experience in stakeholder consultation for the development of flood and coastal defence schemes, shoreline management plans, coastal strategies, R&D projects and organisational reviews. Terry is author of technical papers presented to international audiences. He has presented evidence to Government Ministers, Parliamentary Select Committees and public inquiries. Formerly chairman of Anglian Coastal Authorities Group and spokesperson for the Local Government Association on flood and coastal defence, he is now the Secretary to the 17 English and Welsh Regional Coastal Defence Groups and a member of the DEFRA/Environment Agency R&D Project Advisory Group.
